William E. Wertz

William E. Wertz, 80, of Lower Alsace Township, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2024 at 3:24 am at Laureldale Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of Patricia A. (Henry) Wertz. Born in Reading, Bill was the son of the late J. Edward and Clara B. (Mierzejewski) Wertz. He was a member of Saint Catharine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, Exeter Township and was a 1961 graduate of West Reading High School and went onto receive a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from Albright College and a Master’s Degree in Chemistry from St. Joseph University. Bill was employed by Rohm & Haas, formerly Polymer Corporation in the Research and Development Department until his retirement. In addition to his wife Pat, Bill is survived by his children Michael W. Wertz of Reading; Jeffrey W. Wertz husband of Tammie L. Wertz of Fleetwood; Marcia L. Zambito wife of Jamie L. Zambito of Lower Alsace Township and his grandchildren Drew, Colin, Haley, Kevin and his sister Kathleen M. Tranquillo of West Reading. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Catharine of Siena Roman Catholic Church 4975 Boyertown Pike, Exeter Township, Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at 11:00 am. Reverend Brian M. Miller, Celebrant. Interment will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 10:00 am at Gethsemane Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends at Saint Catharine of Siena Roman Catholic Church Tuesday from 9:00 am to 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Saint Catharine of Siena Regional School, 2330 Perkiomen Ave. Mount Penn, PA 19606 in memory of Mr. William E. Wertz.
