William Reed, Sr

William L. "Bill" Reed, Sr., 74, of Reading, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at 9:30 pm in his home. He was the husband of the late Patricia A. (Whitmoyer) Reed who passed away April 5, 2012. Born in Seyferts, Berks County, Mr. Reed was the son of the late William Joseph Reed and Mildred (Showalter) Reed and served in the United States Army. He was the owner/operator of William Reed & Sons Trucking from 1978-1984 and then was employed as a truck driver for various trucking companies in the Berks County Area. He was then a truck driver for Green Hills Lumber last working in 2013. Mr. Reed is survived by his daughter Tiffany A. Nugent, wife of John E. Nugent, Jr. of Spring Township and his sons William L. Reed, Jr. of Reading and Randall S. Reed, husband of Anne Reed of Mount Penn. He is also survived by his nephew Richard C. Demming, husband of Patricia Demming of Fleetwood as well as his grandchildren Aubrey, Derek, Christopher, Steven, Taylor, Sarah, Emily and Zachary. Also surviving are his siblings Ronald L. Reed, husband of Gail Reed of Exeter Township, Doris Edelman of Douglassville and Joyce E. Kennedy of Birdsboro along with several nieces and nephews and his cat Ellie.
Funeral Service will be held in Bean Funeral Home, 129 East Lancaster Ave. Shillington, Thursday, July 28, 2016 at 1:00 pm. Reverend Mark R. Rigg will officiate. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive relatives and friends Thursday 11:30-1:00 pm.
