William Ramsey, Jr

William A. Ramsey, Jr., 89, formerly of Shillington, passed away Friday, November 10, 2017 at 3:30 am in Reading Hospital. He was transferred to the hospital from Manor Care Health Services, Spring Township where he resided since September 2014. Mr. Ramsey was the husband of Fern E. (Haas) Ramsey to whom he was married to for 64 years. Born in Reading, Mr. Ramsey was the son of the late William A. Ramsey, Sr. and Lucy (Dominicus) Ramsey. He served in the United States Army Air Corp and worked in maintenance at the Reading Housing Authority for 23 years retiring in 1992. In addition to his wife Fern, Mr. Ramsey is survived by his daughter Elaine M. Sweigert, wife of David A. Sweigert of West Lawn and his sister Gloria Phillips of New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his brother Robert Ramsey and sister Mae Ramsey.
Funeral Service will be held in Bean Funeral Home, 6 Fairlane Road, Exeter Township, Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 11:00 am. Reverend Dr. Kris A. Hayden will officiate. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive relatives and friends in Bean Funeral Home Tuesday 10:00-11:00 am. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America 322 Eighth Ave. 7th Floor, New York, NY 1001 in memory of Mr. William A. Ramsey.
