William I. Planer, 84, of Spring Twp., passed away on April 17, 2016 at Manor Care Sinking Spring.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Irvin T. and Miriam A. (High) Planer.
Bill was a US Navy Veteran, serving his country for one year, followed by eleven years in the reserves. He was employed as a Maintenance Mechanic for Bachman Foods of Reading for 32 years, retiring in 1995. He also was employed by Ronco's Pharmacy as a delivery person. In his spare time he enjoyed spending time at the beach, visiting train attractions, going on hot air balloon rides, and going to amusement parks to ride roller coasters. He was an avid train collector, and Philadelphia Phillies Fan.
He is survived by his children: Jill Extract, wife of Gary of Rehoboth Beach, DE, Chris W. Planer, husband of Beth of West Lawn; Matthew J. Planer, husband of Gina of Sinking Spring; and 6 step-grandchildren and 2 step-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Bean Funeral Home, 3825 Penn Ave., Sinking Spring, on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at 3:00PM. The Family will receive friends and relatives from 2:30-3:00PM.
