William Mccue

May 9, 1932 — December 22, 2021

Wyomissing, PA

On December 22, 2021, Bill McCue left this life to rejoin beloved family members and friends who had passed before him.

Born in Hartford, CT on May 9, 1932, he lived a full and meaningful life. At 20, he enlisted in the Air Force, proudly serving honorably from 1952-1956 in the United States Air Force with Strategic Air Command’s 303rd Bomber Group during the Korean War.  On August 11, 1956, he married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Jean Quealey; a marriage lasting until her death on June 24, 2009. Surviving Bill are their five children Sharon McCue of Shillington, PA;  Martin J. McCue of Derry, NH;  Janet L. Johnson of St. Johns, FL;  Patricia L. McCue of Spring Township, PA;  and Bill M. McCue Jr. of Sarasota, FL.  Also surviving him are the wonderful people they had the good sense, and God’s blessing, to add to the fabric of our family.  Lynda McCue, wife of Marty McCue;  Eric Johnson, husband of Janet Johnson;  Cheryl McCue, wife of Bill McCue Jr.;  and his five grandchildren Sydney Miller, Nicholas Johnson, Kelley Whall, Matthew McCue, and Faith McCue.

Dad began working for Carpenter Technology shortly after getting married, rising from a position of inside sales to that of General Manager of Marketing, Sales, and Distribution when he retired in 1987.  Quite a feat for a man of that time who did not graduate from college.

Dad was a man of principal, a man of strong character and conviction, ever devoted to his family.  Dad was a “great” man in every sense of that word. He mentored his children to be strong, but compassionate individuals. He provided his children with the tools necessary to weather the storms life would present to each of us, and he stood beside us as a staunch warrior to help fight the battles. He was truly a “great” father and grandfather, and these are the roles of which he was most proud.
Dad was a man of few words, but the words he spoke were significant.  Today, he would tell us to be cautious that this announcement not become too long.

Dad was the fourth of five children born to Martin J. McCue, and Catherine (Kitty) Ryan McCue. He was predeceased by his oldest sister Peg, and his youngest brother Jim. He is survived by his beloved sister Alice, his brother Bob, sister-in-law Mary, as well as many nieces and nephews.
