William Robert Ludwig

William Robert Ludwig, age 74, of Bethany Beach, Delaware, passed away on July 14, 2024.

William “Bill, Billy” Ludwig was born on March 6, 1950 to Shirley Marie Oberly and Robert William Ludwig of Womelsdorf, Pennsylvania. 

Bill graduated high school in 1968 from Eastern Lebanon School District, while working part-time with Williams Studio developing photos, in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. He later studied photography at Antonelli’s of Philadelphia, and worked as a dispatcher at the National Freight company. From 1971-2018, Bill built a successful 50-year career in the container industry. He started in the factory with Interstate Container Company, in Reading, PA, and retired as a leading sales representative with Fitzpatrick Container. 

In 1981, Bill married Patricia. Throughout his life as a husband and father, he spent time with family and friends, watched and attended Philadelphia sports games, took his children on “bike hikes,” loved 1950s horror movies (Svengoolie), and enjoyed PA Dutch cakes and pies.

In 2018, Bill retired and enjoyed his time at home in Bethany Beach, Delaware, where he visited frequently with his family, watched Pastor Gino Jennings every Sunday, and was close to some of his favorite treats: saltwater taffy and fudge. 

Bill is survived by his wife, Patricia, his five children: Yvonne “Bunny Buzz” Flath (Robert), Yvette “Pooger” Ludwig, Cara “Catina” Ludwig, William “Bippy” Ludwig (Catrina), and Lorah “the Baby” Ludwig (Brandon), his six grandchildren (Jordan, Nathan, Shayna, Jalen, Marigny, and Amelia), and his sister, Sheryl Franey (John). 

Services will be held at Bean Funeral Homes 3825 Penn Ave, Sinking Spring, PA 19608 on Sunday, July 21st, 2024. The family will receive relatives and guest from 10:00am-12:30pm. Funeral Service at 12:30pm. Burial to follow at Millcreek Memorial Cemetery, Newmanstown, PA. The family suggests dress attire you are comfortable in. Bill loved the color green.
