William E. Kerper, 89, of Topton, formerly of Lincoln Park, passed away September 30, 2008 at 8:35 PM in Reading Hospital & Medical Center where he was a patient since September 21st. He was the husband of Grace S. (Schlegel) Kerper. Born in Reading on June 20, 1919, he was the son of the late Walter W. and Minnie K. (Koch) Kerper.
He was a 1937 graduate of Reading High School and a graduate of Wyomissing Polytech Institute. He was an Army veteran of WW2.
He was employed as a machinist at Rockwell International for 22 years and for CarTech for 22 years until his retirement in 1981.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Sharon L. (Kerper) wife of Edmund Much of Camp Hill, 2 grandchildren Kristen (Much) wife of Christopher Campbell of New Cumberland and Scott Much and his fiancAC. Amy Cavero of Baltimore, MD and three great grandchildren Abigail, Aidan and Liam Campbell. Mr. Kerper was predeceased by a sister Kathryn Yoder and a brother Robert W. Kerper. Mr. Kerper was a long time volunteer for his dear friends Doug and Louise Brown at Wood to Wonderful and a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Reading. Bean Funeral Home, 129 East Lancaster Ave., Shillington is in charge of arrangements.
