William Herdman Hoffman, 87, of Reading formerly of Shillington, passed away December 25, 2008 at 8:33 PM in Reading Hospital & Medical Center. He was the husband of Jacqueline H. (Hunter) Hoffman. Born in Norristown, he was the son of the late William and Hannah C. (Herdman) Hoffman.
He was a 1940 graduate of Norristown High School and received a BA degree from Penn State University in 1950. He was an Army veteran of WW II landing at Omaha Beach during the Normandy Invasion.
Mr. Hoffman was a real estate broker and partner in Wertz Hoffman Parks from 1963 until his retirement in 1998. He was a Past President of the Sertoma Club and Past Chairman of the Board of the Chamber of Commerce and a former member of the Shillington Lions Club.
Surviving in addition to his wife are 2 daughters, Karen A. (Hoffman) wife of Ralph W. Cook III of Mohnton and Wendy C. (Hoffman) wife of Philip C. Davis III of Mechanicsburg, a son Mark W. husband of Teresa L. Hoffman of Shillington, 2 grandchildren, Ralph W. Cook IV and Noel N. Hoffman and a brother George S. husband of Mariana A. Hoffman of Doylestown. He was predeceased by a brother Albert Allen Hoffman and a sister Margaret E. Dettra.
