William H. Goodwin III, 70, of Reading, passed away October 2, 2010 at 12:59pm in the St. Joseph Medical Center.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late William H. Goodwin, Jr. and Mary J. (Walters) Goodwin, and the husband of Bonnie M. (Beechert) Goodwin.
William was a 1957 graduate of Reading High School. In earlier years he had been employed by the National Guard as a Military Pay Specialist from 1963-1967, also at former City Bank and Trust Co. from 1957-1963 and Part-time employee of Heister Lanes for 18 years 1970-1988. His last employment was at Glen-Gery Corporation for 32 years, last working January 2000.
Mr. Goodwin was a member of St. Mark's UCC, Reading where he served on the Consistory and Personnel and Property Committees. He was a member of many organizations which included; Reading Company Technical and Historical Society, National Model Railroad Association, Pennsylvania Indian Hobbyist Association, Boy Scouts of America where he was a past Webelo leader. He was in the Air National Guard.
Surviving in addition to his wife are 4 children: Michael L. Goodwin husband of Helen of Riverview Park, Kevin J. Goodwin husband of Kristin of Wernersville, Brian T. Goodwin husband of Renee of Greencastle and daughter Michelle E. (Goodwin) West wife of S. Lance West of Sarasota, FL. There are 7 Grandchildren; Brandi, Steven, Meghan, Alexa and Madison Goodwin and Savannah and Alexandra West. There are 4 Sisters: Ann (Goodwin) Williams wife of Harry C. Williams of Haddonfield, NJ, Phyllis (Goodwin) Weirich wife of Robert J. Weirich, Jr. of Wernersville, Joan (Goodwin) Reynolds wife of James Stover of Phoenix, AZ and Jean (Goodwin) Lebo wife of Rick A. Lebo of The Villages, FL.
