On Monday, November 30, 2020, William, “Bill” (as we all know him) Farrand, age 83, passed from this world while being cared for at home in Wernersville, PA. He is survived by his Life Partner of 23 years, Linda Troil, and his four daughters: Lynn Farrand (Mara), Kellie Rice (Marshall, deceased), Lee Marcroft (Andrew), and Jamie Goldfarb (Jeff).
Bill lived his life striving to follow the example Jesus gave the world. Over and over his acts of love made a difference in the lives of those he met on his life journey. He died as he lived, surrounded with love. His eight grandchildren, Nicole (26), Sami (24), Josh (23), Rachel (21), Jordan (19), Dan (16), Lydia (12), and Kai (10), gathered at his bedside as he passed, telling their “Pop” how much he meant to them, the things he taught them, and how much they loved him. His daughters shared their words of love that night, and accompanied him daily on his life journey with their loving, caring thoughts, words, presence and prayers. His sister, Dorothy “Dot” Houser, and family traveled from New Jersey that night to be part of the vigil and share their love for him. His extended family – nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews loved him dearly, as he loved them. Love ushered Bill forward on his journey to join his sister, Miriam Solter, and his parents, Marie and William Farrand, in heaven. Family was so important to Bill – always his first priority.
Bill lived a life of love. He gave to others in every way he was needed, without hesitation and without expectation of gratitude or even acknowledgement. His mind was always creating solutions to problems others were experiencing and he had the expertise to solve them. He was a carpenter, a maker of furniture, a builder of vacation cabins, a partner, a father, a brother, a grandfather, an uncle, a friend, a Sergeant in the US Army where he qualified as a sharpshooter on all assigned weapons, a USPS letter carrier for 37 years, and a muffin maker (as described by one of his granddaughters in 2000 when asked by her pre-school teacher what her grandfather retired from doing). Bill was patient, caring, thoughtful, honest, humble, strong, gentle, kind, respectful, helpful, generous, and loving. He was a man who walked his beliefs. He didn’t have to talk about them because he lived them every day of his life.
He will be missed by all whose lives he touched. Know that all of you lived in his heart and always will.
A virtual Celebration of Life Service will be held for family and friends.
