William Dickerson

April 4, 1928 — April 30, 2011

William J. Dickerson, 83, formerly of Lincoln Park passed away April 30, 2011 @ 11:35pm in The Lebanon Valley Brethren Village.


Born in Pulaski, VA he was the son of the late Thomas W. and Clara C. (Amburn) Dickerson. He was the husband of Joyce N. (Black) Dickerson.


Mr. Dickerson was a 1946 graduate of Pulaski High School and a 1952 graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University. He was employed at AT&T as an Electrical Engineer for 34 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of West Lawn United Methodist Church and was a US Navy Veteran Rank S1.


Bill was involved in many organizations which included: Forsyth Singers of Winston Salem, President; Master Mason 3rd Degree Salem Lodge #289, Winston, Salem; Past Secretary of Reading Jaycees; Lincoln Park Lions Club, President from 1997-1998 and Charter member; Municipal Authority of Spring Township Board member and Treasurer for 27 years; West Lawn UMC Administrative Board and Sinking Spring Manor Care, Volunteer.


Surviving in addition to his wife Joyce, is a son: Keith S. Dickerson, Grand Junction, CO; Step-sons Donald W. Hess, Williamsport, Barry D. Hess of Mt. Gretna and a step-daughter LeAnn J. Rock of Shermans Dale, PA. There is one granddaughter and 7 step-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister Edith Rider of North Granby, CT.
