William E. "Bill" Bohr, 78, of Reading, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2018.
Born August 2, 1939, Bill was the son of the late William H. Bohr and the late Rita (Bohr) Meiran.
Bill entered the Marine Corps on August 13, 1956. He served in the Corps for 6 years. In August of 1959 he received The Good Conduct Medal First Award. This is one of his accomplishments that he is most proud. He always said once a Marine, Always a Marine. Bill retired from United Parcel Service more than 20 years ago, He was an Operations Manager for UPS for most of his career.
He has a passion for the sport of Handball, a sport he loved and played his whole life. Bill was former commissioner of the Mid-Atlantic Region of USHB Assc. He held this position for many years. He held state and regional titles in handball. He played in hundreds of tournaments. Also he was an avid golfer. Bill loved to travel with a great love of Italy, a place he visited numerous times.
He also loved to spend time with his family, be it going out to dinner, going to family outings and playing cards. He loved gatherings at his house. For many years Bill maintained a Beach getaway for the family.
Bill was predeceased by his first wife: Jean A. (Augustine) Bohr, who passed away on February 3, 2008. The couple was married June 3, 1961 in St. Joseph Church. He also is survived by his second wife: Arlene (Bare) Bohr. They were married June 29, 2016.
He is survived by his children: Gina M. Focht, wife of Timothy J. of Muhlenberg, Lisa L. Seidel, wife of Tracy T. of Mohnton, Clayton A. Bohr of Colorado and a step-daughter: Tracey (Hite) Young, wife of Douglas of Murrieta, CA. Also surviving is a sister, Annmarie Heebner, wife of Donald of Sinking Spring. Between Both families there are 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at St. Ignatius Loyola R.C. Church, 2810 St. Albans Drive, Sinking Spring on Monday, February 26, 2018 at 11:00AM. The family will receive friends and relatives at Bean Funeral Home, 129 E. Lancaster Ave., Shillington, on Monday from 8:30-10:15AM. The entombment will follow the Mass at Gethsemane Cemetery and Mausoleum.
