Warren Wert

Warren Richard Wert, 94, of Spring Township, passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at 3:20 am in his home. He was the husband of Vera K. (Stoudt) Wert to whom he married on November 30, 1940. Born in Muhlenberg Township, he was the son of the late Howard Shearer Wert and Stella Mae(Koch) Wert. He was member of Advent Lutheran Church, West Lawn and attended Reading High School. Mr. Wert served in the United States Army, with rank of Technician 5th Grade, Headquarters Company, 86th Infantry Division, World War II and served in both European and Asiatic Pacific Theatres of Operation. He was a maintenance machinist for Carpenter Technology for 38 years, retiring in June of 1987 and then was a Jury Tipstaff for Berks County Courts from 1988 to 2001, retiring in December of 2001. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 8795, Adamstown and member of West Lawn Senior Citizens. Together with his wife, Vera, they traveled extensively throughout Europe, Asia, South Pacific, Africa and the Far East. He loved feeding the birds and other wild life, enjoyed football and auto races and enjoyed taking care of grand dog Max. In addition to his wife, Mr. Wert is survived by his daughter Beverly Ann Bansner, wife of Philip T. Bansner of Wyomissing and his son Craig D. Wert, husband of Marcia Ann(Spraut) Wert of Exeter Township. He is also survived by his grandchildren Bradley T. Bansner, Karen L. DeFrees, Christopher M. Wert and his great grandchildren Benjamin and Christine Bansner and Isabella, Alexandra and MacKenzie DeFrees. Mr. Wert is also survived by his brother Carl V. Wert of Reading.
Funeral Services will be held in Bean Funeral Home, 3825 Penn Ave. Sinking Spring on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 10:00 am. Rev. Mark R. Rigg will officiate. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive relatives and friends Saturday 9-10:00 am. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Berks County, 1801 North 11th Street, Reading, PA 19604 in memory of Mr. Warren Richard Wert.
