Virginia H. Werner, 90, of Brecknock Twp., passed away June 21, 2011 at 4:10 AM in Mifflin Center where she resided for 3 months. She was the loving wife of Warren C. Werner for 64 years. Born in Chester on October 20, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Varnum H. Vernon, Jr. and the late Grace E. (Wentzel) Vernon.
Mrs. Werner was a graduate of Wilson High School. She was employed a telephone operator by Bell Atlantic for 8 years and last worked as an operator at St. Joseph Hospital for 20 years.
She enjoyed crocheting, quilting and sewing. She loved taking cruises and was on a total of 12 cruises mainly to the Caribbean Islands. She also enjoyed solving crossword puzzles and assembling jigsaw puzzles. She was a cat lover, having many cats over the years.
Surviving in addition to her husband are 3 daughters Bonita Jo (Werner) wife of Glenn Hyneman of Mohnton, Nancy J. (Werner) wife of Donald Carter of Annapolis, MD, and Janice M. (Werner) wife of Retired Colonel Grant Smith of Fairfax, VA, 6 grandchildren Douglass Hyneman, Natalie Hyneman, Richard Carter, Debbie Carter, Michael Smith and Karl Smith, 3 great granddaughters, a brother Varnum H. Vernon, III husband of Marilyn Vernon of Mifflin Park and 2 nephews and a niece.
