Vernie Rissmiller Jr.

Vernie James Rissmiller Jr., 88, of Exeter Twp., passed away Friday December 25, 2020 at 8:55 pm in Manor Care Health Services West Reading.

He was the husband of Eleanor Elizabeth (Monderwicz) Rissmiller, who passed away May 1, 2019.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Vernie James Rissmiller Sr. and Beatrice May (Becker) Rissmiller.

Mr. Rissmiller was employed for 40 years by the City of Reading as a Clerk in the Treasury Department prior to his retirement. He attended St. Joseph RCC in Reading where his wife was a member and he was an Army Veteran of the Korean War.  Mr. Rissmiller was a huge Penn State football fan and he very much enjoyed watching college basketball.

Mr. Rissmiller is survived by his children Darren Vernie Rissmiller, fiancé of Debra L. Hainsey, with whom he last resided; and Jeffrey James Rissmiller of Sinking Spring. He is also survived by his siblings Nancy Wise, Margie Shirey, and Gerald Rissmiller. He was preceded in death by his son Christopher Lee Rissmiller in November 1998 and was also preceded in death by his sisters Dorothy “June” Skuczas, Ethel Foley and Fern Bivans.

Funeral Services will be held in Bean Funeral Home, 6 Fairlane Road, Exeter Twp., Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 11:15 am.  Reverend Monsignor John J. Grabish will officiate.  Interment with Military Honors rendered by the United States Army Honor Guard will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery Mausoleum. The family will receive relatives and friends at Bean Funeral Home Wednesday, December 30, 2020 from 10:15 am to 11:15 am.
