Verna S. (Dickinson) Horvat

              Verna S. (Dickinson) Horvat, age 95, of South Heidelberg Twp., passed away September 30, 2023.  She was the daughter of Irvin B. Dickinson and Sarah G. (Staudt) Dickinson.  She was the wife of Frank R. Horvat who passed away, June 3, 2017, being married 68 loving years.  Verna graduated from Reading High School class of 1945.  Also, a graduate of Reading Business Institute with a medical secretarial degree.  Worked in the medical field for 8 years and 28 years as secretary in the Engineering Department of Windsor Service, Inc. retiring in 1997.  Being the eldest of the 4 children who all took music lessons, she chose the violin in 2^nd grade.  She met Frank playing in a dance band at a social club in 1946, soon after he served in WWII.  She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Church, volunteering in their music ministries.  Also, volunteering in Berks County Senior Orchestra, Hains Church Music Group, and in Retirement and Nursing Homes until the age of 87.  She was an avid walker, sports fan of the Philadelphia teams, and college football.

               Surviving are two sons, Ronald S. Horvat, husband of Susan of Zionsville and Stephen R. Horvat, husband of Debra of Sinking Spring, four granddaughters, Sarah (Anthony) Trinkle, Emily (Kenell) Sanchez, Michelle Horvat, and Amanda Horvat, and four great grandchildren, Quinn, Owen, Camden, and Carter.  Also surviving is brother, Donald S. Dickinson, husband of Loretta of Bern Twp., nieces, and nephews.  Besides her parents and Frank, she was predeceased by brother, Leon S. Dickinson and sister, Mildred S. Drey. 

               Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Verna S. Horvat may be made to Lehigh Valley Hospice at Lehigh Valley Health Network and addressed to: Lehigh Valley Health Network, Office of Philanthropy, P.O.
