Thomas W. Harter

Thomas W. Harter, 88, formerly of Sinking Spring, passed away on Monday, October 9, 2023, at the Keystone Villa in Ephrata. He was the beloved husband of Mary G. (Gehret) Harter, who passed away on May 14, 2019.

Born on October 18, 1934, in Lebanon, PA he was the son of the late Paul W. and Mildred C. (Hartnett) Harter. Thomas graduated from Lebanon High School in 1952. He served proudly in the United States Navy. During his life, he worked, as a Field Supervisor for the former AT&T in Reading for 30 years, until retiring in 1986. Thomas was a former member of the American Legion in Bernville, the Sinking Spring Fire Company, West Lawn Quoiting Club and the Sinking Spring VFW post 6150. He enjoyed woodworking, deep sea fishing and was a gifted handy man.

Thomas is survived by his sons, Paul V. Harter, fiancé of Terri Ringer, of Pittsburgh; Robert T. Harter, husband of Denise Harter, of Ephrata; step daughters, Robin Kline, widow of John Kline, of Annville; Sally James, wife of Jeffrey James, of Shoemakersville; 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; son in law, Donald Simon of Wyomissing; and sister, Joan (Harter) Fuhrman, of Lebanon.

He was predeceased by his daughter Marie L. Simon, who passed away on September 13, 2020 and his sister Ann Arnold.

Inurnment with Military Honors will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery 60 Indiantown Gap Rd, Annville, PA 17003 on Monday, October 23, 2023 at 12:30pm. Online condolences may be made to www.beanfuneralhomes.com.
