Thomas Grookett

Thomas E. Grookett, 91, of Reading, passed away October 9, 2015 in his residence.
He was the widow of Jean A. (Moodhart) Grookett who passed away January 16, 2014.
He was the son of the late Harold W. and Edith E. (Cole) Grookett.
Thomas was a 1942 graduate of Peabody High School in Pittsburgh, PA and was a US Coast Guard Veteran, serving during World War II. He was employed at Bank of Pennsylvania as a real estate appraiser for 21 years, retiring in 1990. Memberships included St. John's Lodge #435 F&AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Reading, Rajah Temple Shrine and former member of Reading Pretzel City Chorus.
Thomas enjoyed traveling and most importantly being with his family.
Survivors include children Thomas E. Grookett, husband of Patricia, Laureldale; Sharen L. Wixon, Reading and Risha A. Schearer, wife of John, Hyde Park. There are four grandchildren Wesley Wixon, husband of Kimberly, Colleen Wertz, wife of Scott Wertz, Justin Delp, Samantha Delp and five great-grandchildren Kyle Esterly, Breanna and Bryan Wixon and Evan and Elise Wertz. He was preceded in death by grandson Bryan Wixon.
A Private graveside service will be held in Laureldale Cemetery.
