Thomas Boyer

January 15, 1943 — January 11, 2009

Thomas J. "Tom" Boyer, 65, of Wyomissing, passed away on Sunday, January 11th, at 4:30 a.m. at the Reading Hospital and Medical Center, where he had been a patient for less than one day.

Born in Johnstown, he was the son of the late James Boyer and Marian (Sebring) Boyer, and partner of Dr. Doris J. Turkes with whom he resided.

He was a 1958 graduate of Westmont Hilltop High School.

He worked for Dana Corporation as an electrician for more than thirty years. After retiring from Dana, he was a school bus driver for Gross School Bus Service in the Gov. Mifflin School District, retiring on December 17th of this past year.

He worked as a volunteer for the P.A.W.S. program at the Oncology Unit of the Reading Hospital with his beloved Yorkie's Parkhurst and Trixie. He also participated in the Therapy Dogs of Berks Co. program, and was an assistant trainer for the Berks Co. Dog Training Club.

He also participated in Competitive Cowboy Shooting in the Single Action Shooting Society, and road with the Gold Wing Motorcycle Club. He was also a member of the Parrot head Club in Berks Co.

In addition to his partner, he is survived by a son: Joseph Boyer, husband of Jenn Boyer of Richmond, VA.

There are also two grandsons: Chase and Sean.

He is also survived by two Aunts: Sandy Laughlin of Detroit, and Marian M. Lange of Johnstown.

The family requests that no flowers be sent, and instead Memorial Contributions be made to the Animal Rescue League, P.O. Box 69, Mohnton, PA 19540.
