Terrance E. Derr, Sr.

Terrance Eugene Derr Sr., known as Terry, passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on March 5, 2025. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, Terry leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and cherished memories.

Terry was born on August 4, 1936, and graduated from Oley Valley High School in 1955. He was a standout athlete in his youth, excelling as a soccer and basketball player and attending the Penn Relays for track and field. Terry went on to build a long and fulfilling career, working for Consolidated Freightways for 43 years, following retirement he became a starter at Golden Oaks Golf Club and a funeral assistant at Bean Funeral Home. His life was rich with interests, from golfing and gardening to playing cards, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his family—particularly attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and creating lifelong memories with them.

Terry was married to the love of his life, Mary Ann Derr (Peters), for 68 years. Together, they built a strong and loving family. He was a proud father to Terrance Eugene Derr Jr. (husband of Lori Ellison), and doting grandfather to Ashley Grande (Derr), wife of Ben Grande; Terrance Eugene Derr III; and Lilly Derr. His family grew to include three great-grandchildren: Luciano, Gia, and Milania Grande.

Terry also leaves behind his sister, Gina Rothermel, wife of the late Francis Rothermel, along with numerous other family and friends who will remember him fondly.

Terry found peace and solace during his summers in Brigantine, often spending his days on the deck with a cocktail in hand, listening to the soothing sound of the waves crashing. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will live on through the love he shared with his family and friends.

Terry’s memory will forever be cherished, and his legacy of kindness, laughter, and love will never be forgotten.

Prayer Service will be held at the convenience of the family at the Chapel of Saint George at Gethsemane Cemetery. Bean Funeral Homes & Crematory 6 Fairlane Road, Exeter Township is in charge of arrangements and online condolences may be made at www.beanfuneralhomes.com.
