Susan “Sue” Marie Voegele (Leahy), 69, of Merion Township, departed this earth on January 9th, 2020 at the Hershey Medical Center following a courageous struggle with cardiovascular disease.
For more than 47 years, Sue was the loving wife of John R. Voegele Sr. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: John R. Voegele, Jr., and his wife, Karen, of Ardmore; Steven W. Voegele, and his wife, Lauren, of Drexel Hill; and Lynn M. Heffern, and her husband, Paul, of Wyomissing. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Sarah and Sam, and Kaylin and Jack, as well as her brother, William H. Leahy.
Born in Jamaica, Queens, New York, she was the daughter of the late William F. & Sarah M. (Keegan) Leahy. Sue graduated St. John’s University in 1973 with a bachelor’s degree in education. She had a true passion for sewing and quilting intricate pieces for her family and friends, including countless colorful pillowcases for childhood cancer patients. She was an avid traveler - visiting Ireland, London, Paris, Amsterdam, Italy, Switzerland, Alaska, Niagara Falls, and beautiful Pine Creek Gorge (the “Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania”) which she so loved.
