Shirley J. Walters

Shirley J. (Batz) Walters, 89, of Reading, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at Berks Heim Nursing Home. She was the loving wife to Otto K. Walters Jr. for over 44 years of marriage, before his passing on April 18, 1996. Born in Reading, Shirley was the daughter of the late George and Mildred (Fields) Batz. Shirley was a majorette for Kenhorst Jr. Drum and Bugle Corps, as well as a devoted employee at Knoblauch Private Bank

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Evelyn W. Rossi, wife of Jackson, of Charlottesville VA, her grandchildren, Nicholas Rossi, Andrea Rossi-Gavin, wife of Peter Gavin, Randy L. Walters Jr. and Kristin Walters. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Joseph Bakanowski, Chase, Olivia, and Parker Gavin

In addition to her husband Otto, Shirley is predeceased by her son, Randy L. Walters Sr., and her brothers, George Fields, and Robert Batz.

A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at 11:00 AM in Bean Funeral Home, 1605 Rockland Street, Reading. Interment to follow in Laureldale Cemetery.
