Shirley A. March, 84, of Shillington, passed away peacefully on Wednesday March 11, 2009 at 10:40 pm in her residence surrounded by her family. She was the widow of Richard A. March who passed away February 23, 1988. Born June 15,1924 in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Horace and Laberta (Whitman) Hain. She was a 1942 graduate of the former Shillington High School. Shirley attended the Reading Hospital School of Nursing, where she later served as a volunteer. With her husband, she also participated in the Meals on Wheels Program for many years. She was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Shillington. Shirley will be remembered for her vitality, her emphasis on looking forward rather than to the past for inspiration and her great love of and devotion to her family. She is survived by two daughters Dr. Leslie S. March of Harrisburg and Shannon L. March of Shillington; a son Peter D. March of Harrisburg; a brother Kenneth G. Hain of Tucson, AZ; daughter in law Charlotte A. March of Mechanicsburg; two grandchildren Richard A. March III and Margaret V. March of Mechanicsburg. In addition there are three nieces and two nephews. She was preceded in death by a son Richard A. March II on May 1, 2008 and a brother Merle H. Hain on February 16, 2000.
