Whether you knew her as Sharlee, Shar, Mrs. Shar, Nurse Shar, Sharkie, Aunt Shar, Mom or Buggy, Sharlee Ann (Miller) Deibler left a mark on everyone she met. Born in Shamokin, PA on January 25, 1946, Shar lived in Irish Valley as the youngest of six siblings. Claiming she was the only one planned by her parents, Raymond and Rachel Miller, there was a 9-year gap between her closest sibling and her oldest sibling Deanie, who was 20 years old when Shar was born. In between Deanie and Shar were her siblings Lois, Johnny, Buzz and Wayne, who spoiled Shar throughout her life. Shar graduated from Shamokin High School in 1963 and followed Lois to the Reading Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1966. She started work at the Reading Hospital as a nurse and continued working as a nurse in various doctor offices for 51 years, working primarily in OB/GYN. Shar married Jerry Deibler in 1969, who she knew in high school, though they ran in very different crowds. They reconnected in Shamokin when Jerry was home on break from the Navy; together they enjoyed a 55-year marriage. They had two children, Steph and Mindy, who they supported in everything they did, from piano concerts to travel softball and everything in between. Shar was an active member of Exeter Bible Church for close to 50 years, where she taught the toddler department for 40 years and was a leader of the Ladies Class. When the church doors were open, Shar was there. She loved spending time with family and friends, including the G-Club, Breakfast Club, Church Ladies, Card Club(s), and family reunions. In recent years, she loved spending time with her two grandchildren, Lauren and Tyler, watching them grow up. Shar especially enjoyed trips to Florida with Jerry, the grandkids, daughters and son-in-law Matt (who was always her favorite). Shar will be fondly remembered for her positive personality, charitable nature, competitiveness when it came to all kinds of games, kindness, love of family and friends, and undying faith in Jesus Christ.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, January 13 at 11:00 am at the Exeter Bible Fellowship Church. Please note - the family won’t be receiving visitors before the service.
Shar always said she didn’t want flowers at her funeral because she wouldn’t be there to see them.
