Sarajane Silcox

Sarajane A. Silcox, 85, formerly of Reading, passed away August 25, 2009 at 6:25 PM in ManorCare Health Services in Lebanon where she resided since January 17, 2008. She was the wife of Robert E. Silcox who passed away November 25, 1993. Born in Pottstown on June 19, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Mary (Moyer) Schell.

Mrs. Silcox attended Pottstown High School. She was employed as a social worker by Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare until her retirement in February of 1987. She was an avid reader, loved the ocean, traveling and her grandchildren.

Surviving are a daughter Lorraine R. (Althouse) wife of Daryl C. Benner of Reading, 2 sons Norman C. Schell of Greenfield, MA and Scott E. Althouse and his wife Donna M. Althouse of Hershey, 5 grandchildren Valerie J. Althouse, Gregory S. Althouse, Kimberly R. Leary, Christa-Rae B. Schwartz and Erik D. Benson, and 4 great grandchildren Ethan S. Althouse, Kirsten G. Althouse, Taylor J. Leary and Jadyn A. Schwartz, and a sister Mary A. (Schell) widow of Eugene W. Kauler of Belleair Bluffs, FL.
