Samuel Silberstein, of Reading, passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at the age of 93. Born in Gratz, Austria on May 28, 1924, Sam arrived in America at the age of 15. He worked at Robert Hall and the Reading Eagle for many years before retiring. He is predeceased by his wife Frances Silberstein, as well as his parents, Robert and Fella Silberstein, and his sister, Mella Silberstein. Sam was a beloved father to Lea Berger, cherished grandfather to Molly and Bethany Berger, and dear brother Otmar Silberstein, all of whom survive him. He enjoyed reading, classical music, creamed spinach, and dry martinis with extra olives. He was a charming and gentle man with a great sense of humor. A true mensch, he will be deeply missed.
Graveside Service will be held in Mt. Sinai Cemetery, New Holland Road, Shillington, Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 11:00 am. Rabbi Brian I. Michelson will officiate. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Jewish Community Center 1100 Berkshire Blvd. Wyomissing, PA 19610 in memory of Mr. Samuel Silberstein.
