Ruth A. Stepp, 91, formerly of Reading, passed away February 23, 2010 at 6:45 PM in Berks Heim where she resided since August 2006. She was happily married for 66 years to her husband Clifford J. Stepp who passed away September 1, 2003. Born in Reading on March 3, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Morris M. and Mary E. (Brettman) Focht.
She was a Reading High School graduate in 1936. Mrs. Stepp was a member of the former St. Stephan's UCC where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, served on the consistory and made candy. She was a talented musician and vocalist, she played guitar and sang soprano at a variety of venues including WEEU Childrens Chorus under Paul Breedy, school glee club, Reading Choral Society, and was a member of a girls orchestra which performed at churches, weddings and other functions. But most of all she enjoyed duets with her son Leon.
Surviving are a son Gregory L. Stepp of Reading, 2 grandchildren Shannon L. Stepp and Melanie Pope both of Idaho, a great grandson Hunter Pope and a sister Mary (Focht) Spotts of Shillington. Mrs. Stepp was predeceased by a son Leon C. Stepp in May 17, 2009.
