Ruth Lessie

Ruth E. Lessie, 85, of Reading, passed away June 7, 2009 at 8:45 PM in Mifflin Center where she resided since May 26th. She was the wife of LaVerne J. Lessie who passed away January 29, 2001. Born in Reading on August 22, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Esther (Ruppert) Rowe.

Mrs. Lessie was a 1942 graduate of Reading High School, and a member of Nativity Lutheran Church, Reading.

She was employed as a secretary by Albright College for 18 years retiring in 1985.

Surviving are 2 sons Stephen L. Lessie husband of Joan (Lonergan) Lessie of Jamestown, NY and Timothy M. Lessie husband of Karen (Oxenreider) Lessie of Temple, a grandchild Lindsay R. Lessie, a step grandchild Jeffrey Kissock and 2 step great grandchildren and a sister Betty J. widow of Jack Schaeffer of Reading. She was predeceased by 2 sisters Mary Matz and Esther Raybold.
