Ruth E. Buchter

   Ruth E. Buchter, 95, of Cumru Township, passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at the Reading Hospital. She was the wife of the late Charles S. Buchter, who passed away October 16, 2020. They were married 70 years ago in Frackville.  Born in Frackville, Schuylkill County, Mrs. Buchter was the daughter of the late Samuel M. and Katie M. (Stiely) Erdman. 

Ruth is survived by her 2 sons; Charles E. Buchter, husband of Susan of Endicott NY and Samuel S. Buchter, husband of Srisuda of Cumru Twp., with whom she last shared her home.

   Mrs. Buchter was preceded in death by her 2 sisters, Helen Weeks, and Grace Turnbull.  She was a proud 1946 graduate of Frackville High School and a very proud 1949 graduate of the Reading Hospital School of Nursing, and then proceeded to work in the Reading Hospital & Medical Center Operating Room for 10 years.  She also was employed as a part time nurse at the Mifflin Center. 

   Mrs. Buchter enjoyed reading, watching television, gardening and in her early years, spending time at Green Valley Country Club. She and her husband Charles enjoyed many winters vacationing at Venice, Florida, enjoying time at the beach. She was very proud of her two sons, and enjoyed spending time with them. 

   Memorial Service will be held at Bean Funeral Homes & Cremation Services 129 East Lancaster Ave. Shillington, Friday, May 12, 2023 at 1:00 pm.  Reverend Megan K. Huesgen will officiate.  Interment will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery.  The family will receive relatives and friends at Bean Funeral Homes & Cremation Services Friday from 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Immanuel United Church of Christ 99 South Waverly Street, Shillington, PA 19607 in memory of Mrs. Ruth E.
