Russell Labe

Russell P. Labe, 90, formerly of Reading, passed away May 14, 2011 at 1:10 AM in ECC Retirement Village in Myerstown where he resided since 2002. He was the husband of Madeline A. (Boaman) Labe who passed away January 9, 2008. Born in St. Lawrence on January 5, 1921, he was the son of the late Paul M. Labe and the late Clara Mae (Hertzog) Labe.

Mr. Labe was a graduate of Reading High School. He was employed by Rockwell International for 40 years in Preventive Maintenance until retiring October of 1982. Mr. Labe was a member, former Treasurer, Councilman, Sunday School Teacher and Choir Member of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church. Russell was the Past President of Berks County Luther League.

Surviving are a son Russell P. Labe, Jr., husband of Karen A. Labe of Belle Mead, NJ; 2 daughters Diane L. (Labe) wife of Calvin E. Seidel III of Reading and Sharon A. (Labe) wife of Kenneth R. Rohland of Lebanon; 4 grandchildren Christy, Jayme, Althea and Kevin; 3 great grandchildren Jaz, Sophia &Samuel a brother Roger J. Labe of West Wyomissing and 2 sisters Fern M. (Labe) Sweigart of Northville, Michigan and Phyllis H. (Labe) Trupp of Sinking Spring. He was predeceased by a granddaughter Allyson.
