Roxanne Orlando Bugay, 64, of Mohnton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 24, 2018 surrounded by her beloved family. She was the darling wife of Michael B. Bugay Sr.
Born in Ephrata, she was the only daughter of Joseph A. Orlando and Betty L. (Flory) Orlando. Raised in Shillington, she was a loving sister to her younger brothers Joseph A. Orlando II and Frank D. Orlando. While attending the Governor Mifflin School District, she participated in Softball, Theatre, and Cheerleading. Outside of school, she enjoyed riding her bike around Shillington; including to Marie Shaw School of Dance where she found her passion for dance. After graduating from Governor Mifflin High School, she received a Bachelors of Science degree in Education from Kutztown University. While waiting for her teaching career to begin, she developed her altruistic ability to care for others as a nursing assistant at the Reading Hospital. After a few years she fulfilled her dream to inspire young minds by becoming an educator for the Reading School District. While teaching for over three decades, she shared her love for Science and Biology with her students and fellow teachers.
In her early twenties, she met her future husband who became the love of her life for almost 44 years. The most significant role of her life was being a mother to her beautiful children.
Through guidance, nurturing, and love she became "Grandma Roxanne" to her seven amazing grandchildren. With her wit, humor, and direction she instilled the foundation of family
values to all. Her family will fondly remember trips, like Hershey Park, Bethany Beach, Outer banks, Italy, Disney, as well as family traditions, like Sunday dinners, holiday gatherings, and birthday dinners.
Her devotion to not only her family, but also to the prosperity of the youth in her community, gave her purpose and joy in life. For example, she was the President of the Ken Grill Pool, and the Owner/Director of Dance Expressions. Her goals with these roles were to create a fun and safe environment where children could flourish and families could bond. Roxanne had a sense. She had an eye for filling voids. She could see where something needed to be done, and she had the determination and willpower to do it. Through her tenacity she fulfilled her vision by transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary.
She wanted the world to dance, knowing that was a source of the purest joy some of us know. She wanted the world to dance... so she made it happen.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her step-son, Michael B. Bugay Jr., of Shillington; son, Matthew J. Bugay, husband of Rachel L. Bugay, of Shillington; daughter, Jessica B. Clipp, wife of Jonathan D. Clipp, of Shillington; daughter, Angela Bugay, of Mohnton; and son, Jonathan M. Bugay, of Mohnton. Roxanne is also survived by her grandchildren, Dominic M. Bugay, Nadia E. Bugay, Alexia R. Bugay, Juliana Clipp, Jonathan D. Clipp Jr., Isabella Cruz, and Brielle Cruz. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
