Rose Papich

February 28, 1921 — December 16, 2015

Rose Papich, 94, formerly of Reading, passed away in the loving arms of her daughters on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at 7:40 pm. She was the wife of the late Martin P. Papich who passed away March 19, 1993. Born in Reading she was the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Rosaria (Laporta) Borzellino. She was a member of Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church and was a seamstress at David Crystal in Reading. Above all, her family was most important and gave her the greatest joy in life.

Mrs. Papich devoted her life to community service and charity for others. She was a member of Catholic Charities; National Shut In Society; Central Catholic High School Mothers Club President; Pennsylvania Junior Miss; Commissioner of Muhlenberg Township and Director and Chairwomen of the Fresh Air Fund for 37 years. She was a Eucharistic Minister at Holy Guardian Angels RCC and a volunteer at Saint Joan of Arc School, Hershey. Rose received many awards for her devotion and commitment to organizations including the Italian American Citizenship Award of Berks County, the Americanism Award of B'Nai B'rith and the Service to Mankind award of the Sertoma Club.

Mrs. Papich is survived by her daughters Candy Bott, wife of Edward K. Bott of Palmyra and LaDora P. Field, wife of Dr. John M. Field of Hummelstown along with her grandchildren Michael Bott, husband of Tara Bott; Brian Bott, husband of Ashley Bott; Julie Field; and one great granddaughter, Makenzie Bott. She is also survived by her sister Micheline, wife of the late Hugh Dougherty of Muhlenberg Park. She was preceded in death by her siblings Helen Borzellino; Elizabeth Borzellino; Nina Genova; Sarah Joffred; Anthony Borzellino; Daniel Borzellino; Samuel Borzellino and Joseph Borzellino.

The family will receive relatives and friends in Holy Guardian Angels Church 3121 Kutztown Road, Laureldale, from 9-9:45 AM on Tuesday December 22, 2015 prior to Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Entombment will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central PA, 745 Governor Road, Hershey, PA 17033 in memory of Mrs. Rose Papich.
