Rodney Fetter

June 27, 1939 — April 6, 2010

Rodney A. "Rod" Fetter, 70, of Reading, passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at 3:15 a.m. at home.


Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Stewart Fetter and Hattie (Bechtel) Fetter. He was the husband of Marie J. (Hafer) Fetter. The couple shared 46 wonderful years of marriage.


He was a 1957 graduate of Reading High School, and served with the the United States Marines as a Corporal.


He worked as a clerk for the United States Postal Service for more than 20 years, retiring in 1994. He was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He was a member of Alsace Lutheran Church.


He was known for being happy go lucky, and loved to make people laugh with his collection of jokes. He also enjoyed golf, and with Mrs. Fetter was a member of several ballroom dancing clubs.


In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son: Curtis S., husband of Susan Fetter of Waltham, Mass; and a daughter: Denise M., wife of Eric Mercer of North Wales, PA; and three grandchildren: Nicholas, Alexander, and Bethany.


There are also two brothers: Barry of Reading, and Dennis of Exeter Twp.


In addition to his parents, he is pre deceased by a son: Robert A., who passed away in 1983; and a sister: Joan (Fetter) Ripple.
