Robert J. Pettit, Sr., 75, of Cumru Township, passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at 4:26 pm in his residence, surrounded by his family and friends.
Bob was the husband of Erin P. (Hunter) Pettit. Bob and Erin celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on March 4th of this year.
Born in Rego Park, New York, Bob was the son of the late Joseph Warren Pettit and Anna Mary (O’Brien) Pettit. Bob attended Hofstra University, earning his Associates degree. He worked for many years with Mutual of Omaha and later was owner of Byers Choice Mystery Shopping, most recently was Vice President of Ageless Harmony Adult Day Centers.
He was a member of Saint John Baptist de la Salle Roman Catholic Church in Shillington.
Bob and Erin spent their free time at the family vacation home in Longneck, Delaware, spending his time boating, doing yard work and being the “mayor” of Seaside, Pot Nets. You could find him on his boat tubing with his grandkids or just cruising thru the Indian River Inlet area.
Bob will be so missed by his dog, Maggie Mae. She will miss her human, and curling up in his lap on the chair and snuggling in bed with Bob watching his beloved Philadelphia sports teams, especially the Eagles and Phillies.
He was a member of Kiwanis Club, Central Catholic Boosters Club and Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus in Long Island, New York.
In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by his son Robert J. Pettit, Jr, husband of Laura J. Pettit of Doylestown; his daughter Alanna K. Shrawder, wife of Chad I. Shrawder of Cumru Township; his grandsons Nicholas, Thomas, Matthew and Christopher Pettit and Ty and Chase Shrawder.
Mr. Pettit is also survived by his sister Geraldine A. VanLuven, wife of Martin Van Luven of The Villages, Florida.
Funeral Service will be held in Bean Funeral Home, 3825 Penn Ave. Sinking Spring,
Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at 7:00 pm. Reverend Richard H. Clement will officiate.
Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. The family will receive relatives and friends in Bean Funeral Home Wednesday 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Fox Chase Cancer Center 333 Cottman Ave. Philadelphia, PA 19111 in memory of Mr. Robert J. Pettit, Sr. Online condolences may be made at
