The Reverend Robert Leroy Kramer

The Reverend Robert Leroy Kramer, 96, of Wernersville, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at Phoebe Berks, Health Care Center. Robert was the loving husband to Evelyn (Weaver) for over 72 years of marriage. Born in Mohnton R.D., Robert was the son of the late Stephen Kramer, and Lillie (Lorah).

Robert answered the call of God to preach while leading a Sunday School Class in his High School years. He received a B.A. degree from Moravian Theological Seminary in Bethlehem, PA and became an ordained pastor of the Evangelical Congregational Church. He served in the pastoral ministry for 45 years in PA EC churches including those of Williams Township, Lebanon Grace/Rexmont, Danielsville, Pine Swamp/California, Jim Thorpe, Zieglerville/Trappe, Pottstown, Easton, Reading Bethany, Bangor and Kutztown. He was also a Bible Teacher at 3 denominational Camp Meetings and was a past Secretary and President of the Christian Education Society of the East PA Conference of the EC Church.

Following retirement, he continued preaching, teaching, and writing for more than 20 years. This included writing 5 books based on his own study and thoughts on the Bible and the end times and publishing a small periodical called “Second Thoughts”.

Robert enjoyed hunting/fishing, camping, rock hunting, golfing, bowling, table tennis, music/singing, jewelry making, painting pictures, growing plants, playing games, and spending time with family. To the very end he followed local sports teams, went to baseball games, watched the Eagles and Phillies games, and insisted he felt like he could still play the sports he loved if only his legs would cooperate.

In addition to his wife Evelyn, Robert is survived by his children, Joyce Trievel, wife of Kent, of Utica, NY, Dale Kramer, husband of Beverly, of Jonestown, Faye Price, widow of Kevin, of Reading, Bruce Kramer, husband of Deborah, of Clarence, NY and Jayne Hontz, wife of Peter, of Kutztown. He is also survived by his 13 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren, with 2 more great grandchildren on the way, as well as his sisters, Catherine Kessler, and Miriam Heil.

Robert is predeceased by his brother Carl Kramer, and sisters, Dorothy Kramer, Esther Kramer, Linda Lessig, Arlene Shutter, and Anna Fake.
