Robert A. Hartman of Laureldale, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at 10:55 pm in Hospice & Community Care in Mount Joy. Born on December 17, 1918, he was the son of the late Charles N. and Gertrude (Becker) Hartman. He was a 1936 graduate of Reading High School. Mr. Hartman served in the Army Air Corp as a Corporal during World War II and was a member of the 8th Air Force 92nd bomb group and 3-27 bomb squadron as well as working as a mechanic in England on B17 aircraft. He was a painter for Kirst & Sons Painting in Reading; a delivery man for various bakeries and was owner of Hartman's Delicatessen at the Shillington Market. He was an avid sports fan! He played football for Pandora Park Wildcats; bowled for 15 years in Laurel Lanes Pinsters League; enjoyed playing cards with his family and going to the casinos. Mr.Hartman is survived by his children Linda S. Fick, wife of Ralph A. Fick of Oley; Bonnie M. Harris, wife of Richard J. Harris of Mechanicsburg; Jeffrey R. Hartman of Stevens and James R. Hartman, husband of Denise L. Hartman of Temple along with his grandchildren, Bryan; Michael; Kimberly; Eric; Christi; Justin and Bret and his 9 great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers Paul Hartman, husband of Mildred Hartman of Boyertown; Charles Hartman, husband of Peg Hartman of Wernersville; sisters Gertrude Sheetz and Margaret Boissonneault.
Funeral Service will be held in Bean Funeral Home, 3825 Penn Ave. Sinking Spring Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at 7:30 pm. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. The Family will receive relatives and friends Tuesday, December 6, 2016 from 6:00-7:30 pm. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Meals On Wheels c/o Berks Encore 40 North 9th Street, Reading, PA 19601 in memory of Mr. Robert A. Hartman.
