Robert G. "Bob" Graul Sr., 76, of Reading, passed away Thursday, May 7th at 4:55 a.m. at home.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Howard P. Graul and Tillie Mae (Wright) Graul, and husband of Mary Ann (Shaud) Graul. The couple shared 40 wonderful years together.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran during the Korean Conflict, and his pride in his country continued throughout his life. He was a member of the International Order of the Cooties.
He first worked as a Supervisor for Penn Optical for 13 years, and later worked as a Supervisor for the former Bortz Chocolate in Hyde Park for 23 years, retiring in 1991. He then worked part time at the Berkshire Mobil Station for 8 years, until it closed in 2006.
He loved to play golf, and enjoyed cooking, specializing in everything. He enjoyed hosting parties for his family. He loved sweets, especially chocolate. He loved the Eagles, and auto racing, including his favorite racer, Dale Earnhardt.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his loving family: daughters: Paulette D. (Graul), wife of Jeff Merl of Allen, TX, Penny L. (Graul), wife of Robert Behm of Blandon, Pamela J. (Graul), wife of Russ Oswalt of Mohrsville, and Rosemarie E. (Graul), wife of Randy Hiegler of Reading, and Michelle G. (Graul), wife of Brian Thomas of Muhlenberg Twp.; and sons: Robert G. Graul Jr., husband of Michelle of Reading, and David A. Graul of Laureldale.
There are also thirteen grandchildren, three step grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren and seven step great grandchildren.
He is also survived by his sisters: Margaret (Graul), wife of Richard Seiders of Muhlenberg Twp., Beatrice (Graul) Repole of Reading; and a brother: Kenneth Graul of Bethel, CT; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was pre deceased by eight siblings.
His family will miss him dearly, but are comforted that his spirit will live on through them.
