Robert F. Goodwin, 79, of West Lawn, passed away on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at 9:30 a.m. at home.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Frank R. Goodwin and Margaret C. (Strause) Goodwin.
He was the husband of Dorothy R. Slonaker Goodwin. The couple were maried in November of 2000. He was previously a widower of Jane K. (Schoener) Goodwin, who passed away in 1995.
He served with the United States Army during the Korean War. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying both fishing and hunting.
He worked in Carpentry for the Carpenters Union in Philadelphia, working many years for Hoffner and O'Rourke before retiring in the 90's.
He was a Life Member of the West Wyomissing Fire Company #1, the Mt. Pleasant Fire Company, the American Legion Post #880 in Richland Twp., the Northmont Fellowship Association in Reading, The Scottish Rite Bodies in the Valley of Reading, the Tall Cedars of Lebanon- Neversink Forest #32, and was a Mason, serving with the Isaac Hiester Lodge No. 660 in Reading.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son: David R. Goodwin, fiance of Linda Carr of New Port Richey, Florida; stepsons: Robert, husband of Sandy Reed of Wernersville, Zane, husband of Cindy Reed of Womelsdorf; and a step daughter: Rebecca R. (Reed), wife of Steve Heller of Lebanon.
There are also eight step grandchildren and ten step great grandchildren.
He is also survived by a sister: Margaret "Tootie" (Goodwin) Lehr, and pre deceased by a sister: Dorothy (Goodwin) Thomas.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to a charity of ones choice in Robert's name.
