Robert E. Bean, 94, of Reading, passed away peacefully Saturday June 17, 2023, at 1:30pm, in his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was the husband of Connie A. (Sfameni) Bean with whom he shared 33 wonderful years of marriage.
His first wife, Jacqueline B. “Jackie” (Dubson) Bean passed away June 14, 1988.
Born in Cleona, Lebanon County, he was a son of the late Robert D. and Mabel E. (Meck) Bean.
A 1946 graduate of Annville High School, in 1949 Mr. Bean graduated from American Academy of Embalming and Mortuary Research in New York City.
He was a U.S. Army Artillery Sgt. Combat Veteran having served in the Korean War.
In 1955 he started the Robert E. Bean Funeral Home at 1605 Rockland Street in Reading.
Mr. Bean belonged to many organizations and served on many boards but above all else wanted to be remembered as a Christian. In his profession he was grateful and honored to serve families in Berks County and he felt privileged to serve his country of which he was so proud. Personally, his greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends that he loved so dearly.
In addition to his wife Connie, he is survived by his children; R. Kerry Bean, Fleetwood, Kevin M. Bean, Wernersville, and Stephanie E. (Bean) wife of David E. Wierzbicki, Sinking Spring. Also, his stepdaughter; Kelli A. Fusaro, Port St Lucie, FL, 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his siblings, Grace M. Werner; Frederick Bean; Roy J. Bean; Anna Mae Werner; Dorothy A. Groh; Marian Kreamer and Gerald H. Bean.
