Richard Stichter Sr., 75, of Reading passed away on February 1, 2021 in his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Reading, he was the son of the late William and Rosemary (Wenrich) Stichter. He graduated from Reading High School and continued his education at Lincoln Technical. Richard was the husband of Kathryn (Brown) Stichter, together they shared 53 years of marriage. He worked for Dana Corporation for 23 years before retiring. Richard loved working in his woodshop where he would make anything from benches to custom mailboxes. He enjoyed playing cards, building his train set, and people watching. Richard cherished his old juke box and Coke machine but most of all he cherished every moment he spent with his family.
In addition to his loving wife, Kathy, Richard is survived by his children; Lisa Thomas, wife of Daniel of Reading, Richard Stichter Jr., husband of Kerry of Florida, and Howie Stichter, husband of Angela of Centerport. Also surviving his grandchildren; Karisa, fiancé of Kody, Brad, Anastasia, Devon, Colby, and Madison, his great grandson, Lukas, and his siblings, Cliff Stichter and Jeannette Brossman. Richard is preceded in death by his step brother, Richard “Dick” Mengel, husband of Dolly.
A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, February 10, 2021 in Bean Funeral Homes, 1605 Rockland Street, Hampden Heights at 12:00 pm. Celebrant Amy Landis to officiate. The family will receive friends and relatives on Tuesday, February 9th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Wednesday, February 10th from 11:00 am to 12:00pm. Interment will follow Celebration of Life at Berks County Memorial Gardens.
