Richard Steffy

Richard C. Steffy, 87, of Reading, passed away on June 15, 2016 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Walter I. and Mary (Goodhart) Steffy.
Richard was a 1947 graduate of Reading High School. He proudly served his country as a member of the US Army, 11th airborne division. He was employed as the Vice President of the Local USW Union for Parrish, and later Dana Corporation. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Richard was very active in youth sports, serving as an umpire and coach for several area youth leagues.
He is predeceased by his siblings: Larry Steffy and Nancy Stoyer.
He is survived by his wife: Shirley A. (Minnich) Steffy, children: Dr. Kevin R. Steffy of San Diego, CA and Terry L. Steffy of Wernersville. Also surviving is his brother, Donald Steffy.
Funeral service will be held at Bean Funeral Home, 129 E. Lancaster Ave., Shillington, on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at 12:00PM. The family will receive friends and relatives from 11-12:00PM. The interment will follow the service at Forest Hills Memorial Park.
