Richard Kochel Sr.

Richard Thomas “Dick” Kochel Sr. 78, of Reading, passed away on Sunday January 24, 2021 at Reading Hospital. Born in Wernersville, Richard was the son of the late Henry E. and Irene V. (Kupp) Kochel. He was predeceased by his brothers Henry “Bill” and Eugene “Bobby” Kochel and his sister Mary “Sis” Brown.

Mr. Kochel is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Judy D. (Stoudt) Kochel. He is also survived by eight children; Richard L. Kochel, Robert L. Kochel, Kristine K. “Krissy” DeWald, Charles R. “Chucky” Kochel, Karen L. Oldt, Gwendolyn N. “Nikki” Kindt, Richard T. “Rich” Kochel Jr. and Jessica L. Kochel, along with eleven grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

Dick proudly served in the United States Navy. He enjoyed clowns, especially Emmett Kelly clowns, Dale Earnhardt Sr., and loved drinking Pepsi. He was a man with a huge heart who gave a helping hand to anyone who needed it and was beloved by many.

A funeral service will be held in Bean Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, North 16th Street and Rockland Streets, Hampden Heights on Thursday January 28, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Dr. Brett Reider will officiate. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park.
