Richard Hollen

November 1, 1936 — March 10, 2017

Richard D. Hollen, 80, of Heidelberg Twp., passed away on March 10, 2017 at Stone Ridge Town Center of Myerstown.
Born in Huff, PA he was the son of the late Edward E. and M. Ellen (Pennington) Hollen.
Richard, along with his son R. Mark Hollen, was the cofounder of Denver Truck Painting. Before going into business, he was employed for ten years at Krystal Klear Trout Hatchery of Newmanstown. He proudly served in the Marine Corps.
He had a passion for hunting and a real talent for painting acrylic oil landscapes. He will be remembered for his generosity to others, his humor that crossed all ages, and his sincere love for his family and friends.
The family wishes to acknowledge the special care, compassion, consideration, and professionalism of Gary Kolva, MD; Dr. Kolva's humor and empathy provided comfort along with expertise in his care of Richard. The family would also like to sincerely thank the caregivers at Stone Ridge Town Center, especially: Lori, Linda, Sparkle, Smiley, the Polynesian Princess, and all direct care nursing and therapy staff.
He was predeceased by his Sister: Evelyn Bennett and brothers: William, Harlan, Robert, Dwayne, John, and Donald Hollen.
He is survived by his wife: Nancy A. (Masters) Hollen, Children: R. Mark Hollen of Denver and Cathleen A. Hollen of Robesonia. Also surviving are his grandchildren: Heather Strunk, wife of Kevin of Marietta, Leeza Hollen of Denver, Joshua and Zebulon Sauber of Robesonia, Great-granddaughter: Kaelyn Wise of Denver, Brothers: Kenneth and Theodore Hollen of New Florence, PA and Ronald Hollen, husband of Barbara of Newville.
Memorial Services will be held at Bean Funeral Home, 3825 Penn Ave., Sinking Spring, on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 2:00PM. The family will receive friends and relatives from 1-2:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Richard's memory to the National Parkinson Foundation, 200 SE 1st St., Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131.
