Richard Hoch, Sr

November 22, 1933 — July 13, 2017

Richard W. Hoch, Sr., 83, of West Lawn, passed away suddenly on July 13, 2017 at The Reading Hospital.
He was the husband of Jeanette M. (Gross) Hoch for 61 years.
Born in Kutztown, he was the son of the late Paul and Hattie (Loch) Hoch.
Mr. Hoch was a US Air Force Veteran. He was employed as a chemical purchasing agent for Ciba-Geig for over 30 years. Richard was a devout faithful man, a member of St. Ignatius Loyola R.C. Church. In previous years he participated in the Pretzel City Barber Quartet and the choir of Holy Rosary R.C. Church. Sports were an important part of Richard's life as well. He played basketball for the Kutztown Cougars, coached basketball leagues at Holy Guardian Angels Church, and was an avid golfer. Family was everything to Richard, and he will be remembered for being a loving husband, father, pop-pop, son, and brother.
He was predeceased by his son: Richard W. Hoch, Jr., granddaughter: Elizabeth Blackwell, Sister: Lucille Walter, Brother: Lee Hoch.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his children: Mary T. Walls, wife of William of Reading, Sherri M. Blackwell of Sinking Spring, Michael G. Hoch of Reading, Kristina E. Comoh of Sinking Spring, Kathe D. Hoch of Sinking Spring, and Jennie P. Pietrobone, wife of Jarrod of Sinking Spring, daughter-in-law: Sue L. Hoch of Leesport. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 7.5 great-grandchildren, and Sister: Maryanne Shollenberger.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at St. Ignatius Loyola R. C. Church, 2810 St. Albans Drive, Sinking Spring, on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at 11:00AM. The family will receive friends and relatives at church from 10-11:00AM.
