Richard Bona

Richard J. Bona, 74, of Spring Twp., passed away September 14, 2009 at 10:10 PM in Reading Hospital & Medical Center. He was the husband of Mame J. (Maschal) Bona. Born in Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County on June 23, 1935, he was the son of the late Joseph R. and Martha J. (Jones) Bona.

Mr. Bona was a 1953 graduate of Wilkes-Barre GAR and a 1962 graduate of the former Wilkes-Barre College (now Wilkes-Barre University) with a BS degree. Richard was a member of West Lawn United Methodist Church, where he served as Financial Secretary from 1974-1982, taught Adult Sunday School and was a member of the Church Choir. He served as Treasurer of the West Lawn/Wyomissing Hills Library in 1999 and as Treasurer of the Wilshire Recreation Center from 1978 to 1986.

Mr. Bona was employed as an accountant. He first worked at the former Haskins & Sells, NYC from 1962-1969, CarTech Corp., Reading from 1969-1972, Cabot Corp., Boyertown from 1972-1990 and last worked at Soverign Bank, Reading from 1992-1996.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter Carolyn J. Bona at home and a son Richard J. Bona Jr. husband of Dorthea R. (Harris) Bona of Spring Twp. and 3 grandchildren Marilena M. Bona, Alexandros A. Bona and Evangelia A. Bona.
