Renee (Assayag) Seidel

Renee Seidel, 90, of Wernersville, PA died peacefully, August 8, 2023, at the Reading Hospital. She was the wife of Harvey D. Seidel, Wernersville.

Born in Kenitra, Morocco on March 15, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Esther (Gabbay) Assayag. Renee was a member of the Reform Synagogue Oheb Sholom, Wyomissing.

Renee was employed for many years at Albright College as Administrative Assistant to the Dean of Finance, retiring to enjoy life, and enjoy retirement with her husband.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by: her son Eric (Cleveland, OH), and his children  Amanda Chase , (Wife of Cody) & Great Grandson Parker, Cincinnati OH, Jared Seidel (San Diego CA) and 1^st Lieutenant Andrew Seidel (New Mexico) and her son Bruce (Wyomissing) husband of Kenda, and her grandchildren Jordan, Philadelphia PA (Partner of Maite Bermudez), Mindy, Mt. Joy, PA (Wife of Maria Adams) and Josh Seidel, Los Angeles CA (Partner of Kylie Martinson)

She is also survived by her brother Isaac Assayag, Be’er Sheva, Israel and a whole bunch of nieces and nephews around the world!

She loved talking about her youth, growing up as the last of 7 children and being spoiled rotten by her older siblings: Isaac, Nanette (deceased), Abner (deceased), Luna (deceased), Marie (deceased), Solomon (deceased).

She moved from Morocco to France, met her future husband (of 67 years) and traveled the world seeing everything and trying to convert everyone she met to speaking fluent French or Spanish by the time the conversation was over.

Lately, she lived in the Phoebe Home in Wernersville and used her pulpit there to try to teach everyone French and Spanish, also.

The family wants to thank specifically the fantastic nursing staff at the Reading Hospital for their warmth and care and a huge thank you to Dr. Carolina P Vasquez Prado, DO & Allison Massey, RN and the rest of the sensational hospice team for their compassion and care that far exceeds the ability to say thank you!

Graveside service will be held at Mt. Sinai Cemetery, 328 New Holland Ave. Shillington, PA 19607 Thursday, August 17, 2023 at 10:00 am.  Rabbi Brian I. Michelson will officiate.
