Raymond Kreitz

Raymond P. "Spongie" Kreitz, 78, of Sinking Spring, formerly of Shillington, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at 11:08 a.m. at home.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Alton Kreitz and Catharine (Becker) Kreitz.

He was the husband of Patricia A. (Swavely) Kreitz at home.

He was a 1949 graduate of Reading High School, and served with the United States Army during the Korean War.

He was the retired owner of Spongies Service in Reading, working for more than 50 years before retiring in 1996.

He was a Life Member of the Sinking Spring VFW, the American Legion Post 217 in Topton, and and Clover Park AA.

He attended Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Shillington.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter: Cathy A. (Kreitz), wife of Douglas Weaver of Exeter Twp.

There are also two grandchildren: Ryan, husband of Andrea Weaver, of Douglassville; and Adam Weaver of Norristown.

He is also survived by his sister: Fay (Kreitz), wife of Gene Rader of Shillington.
