Ray R. Carbaugh, 94, of Reading died on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at his home with his family by his side. Ray was the husband of Julia A. (Schucker) for over 68 years. Born in Reading, Ray was the son of the late Raymond Carbaugh and Nora Hockaday(Hamilton). Ray served in the United States Army, during the end of World War II. He then worked at Dick Brother’s Inc. for 44 years as a Foreman and supervisor before retiring.
He was a very loving and devoted husband and father. He loved being with his family. He loved the outdoors. For many years he took daily 3-7 mile hikes usually around Blue Marsh with his wife and two Schnauzers – Missy and Heidi .
In addition to his wife Julia, He is survived by his son, Glenn R. Carbaugh, of Reading and his daughter, Loraine K. Carbaugh, of Reading. He is also survived by his half-sisters, Ruth Golding, Shirley O’Neil, Anna Mae Carbaugh and Ruth Roghelia, and his half-brother, Ronald Carbaugh.
Ray is predeceased by his half-sister, Grace, and half-brother, Lloyd “Tom” Carbaugh.
Funeral service will be held at Bean Funeral Home, 1605 Rockland Street, Reading, on Friday, February 11, 2022 at 11:30 AM. Reverend Lesley Hand to officiate. Interment will be held in Fairview Cemetery, Kutztown. The family will receive guests in Bean Funeral Home, Reading on Friday from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM. In lieu of flower’s contributions may be made in Ray’s Honor to the Humane Society of Berks County in Reading. Online condolences may be made at www.beanfuneralhomes.com
