Ralph Lorah

August 10, 1932 — June 24, 2016

Ralph P. "Speedy" Lorah, 83, of Reading, passed away on June 24, 2016 at Berkshire Center.
Born in Oley, he was the son of the late Gideon H. and Frances G. (Hoch) Lorah.
Mr. Lorah was a graduate of Oley Valley School District consolidated class of 1951. He was a US Army veteran, who proudly served his country as a Corporal in Germany and at Ft. Knox Post. He went on to be employed at Windmill Cheese Factory in Pikeville, a machine operator for Flaggs of Pottstown, and as a letter carrier for the Boyertown Post Office, a title he held for 25 years, until retiring in 1992.
Ralph was a member of the American Legion, National Rifle Association, Pike Twp. Sportsman Club, Ruckland Sportsman Club, Boyertown Sportsman Club, Disabled American Veterans, and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a trustee for Berks County Cemetery Association, Berks County Association for Graveyard Preservation, board member of Lobachsville Cemetery, and office member of Oley Legion.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Lobachsville. He enjoyed watching the Philadelphia Phillies, playing softball, serving as an umpire, and hunting. Ralph's family would like to thank his care take, Nadine Rhoads for the compassionate care provided to Ralph in his time of need.
He was predeceased by his brothers: Ray, Edward, Harold, Ned, Ray, Linwood, Ira, and Fred Lorah. Sisters: Mary Hertzog and Agene Oswald.
He is survived by his nieces and nephews: Patricia Kretz, Ronald and Nelson Oswald, and Dale, Marissa, Andrea, Kane, Todd, Troy, Kim, Steve, Lynnel, Jolene, Denise, Tommy, Cindy, and Lynne Lorah. Sister-in-laws: Madeline, Laura, and Doris Lorah, Shirley.
Funeral Service will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 342 Lobachsville Rd., Oley, on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at 11:00AM. The family will receive friends and relatives at church from 10-11:00AM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lobachsville Cemetery Fund.
