Primitivo Ortiz, 80, of Reading, passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at ManorCare Sinking Spring, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Doris Kay Ortiz (Woodring), who passed away on November 29, 2012.
Born in Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Jacinto Ortiz and Ventura Poventud.
During his life he was employed as a Welder for Birdsboro Steel for 30 years, and then Dana Corporation until retirement.
Tivo loved hunting, fishing, shooting and Chinese food. He enjoyed family camping trips to Delaware & Maryland. He enjoyed playing softball, baseball and boxing. Tivo’s love for softball lead him to be involved in many teams, including the Birdsboro Steel softball team.
He played many sports but sharing his love for Jesus Christ was his true passion. Tivo shared his testimony with thousands of people during his lifetime. He always had a dad-joke and a gospel tract for anyone he crossed paths with in his journey. Tivo served faithfully at Hopewell Mennonite Church of Reading for many years. He served where ever there was a need. He served with his wife as the church treasurer, security, food & clothing ministries. He even traveled to the holy land for a once in a lifetime trip with his wife. Tivo and Doris opened their home to anyone in need countless times over the past 50 years.
